Papigko, Zagorochoria, Epirus, Greece!

Epirus is a beautiful area in Greece, which in recent years is discovered by more and more visitors, not only from Greece but also from around the world. The unique scenery, the local gastronomy, the ancient history and the natural beauty of its landscapes, make it unforgettable to any visitors who decide to spend some days there.
One of the most popular destinations in Epirus, is Zagorohoria, a group of mountain villages, famous for their unique architectural style and for the wonderful landscape they offer.
One of these villages is Papigo, which I had the opportunity to visit recently and I really got excited once I did so. I started from Ioannina, the biggest city of Epirus and following the map, I approached Papigo in less than an hour drive. The road in most spots was easy and without major problems. A little extra attention is required on your driving at certain points where it becomes narrow and has steep turns. If you enjoy the scenery, and drive slowly you will not face any particular problems.
Arriving at Papigo I looked for a parking spot. There is a large free parking at the entrance of the village . The streets are small, narrow and paved, so if you are a foreigner and you do not know how you can move around by a car, it is better to leave it in the parking and proceed on foot. So did we.

If you have already made a reservation in advance (there are some very nice hotels in the area) make sure you ask the hotel to provide detailed instructions on how to get there by car.
Our visit was only for one day, so we immediately prepared our cameras and started strolling in the village.
I was fascinated by the beautiful and distinctive bell tower of the village. It is certain to capture your eye even from a distance, as it bell top rises impressively! I took pictures from various angles to immortalize its uniqueness!
Our next step was a walk through the small cobbled streets of the village! Narrow, picturesque, with beautiful houses built according to local architecture,! A thousand new pictures to memorize both visually and through my camera! Papigo is gorgeous and certain to make you feel its magic!
I enjoyed the ride, I relaxed and I admired all nature’s little corners, the simplicity of its inhabitants, the beauty of the buildings and the beautiful landscape of the mountain and the forest that surrounds it!

For the end of our walk we left exploring the world of horse riding. In the village there are certain companies providing qualified teachers who give riding lessons. With their help and supervision you may safely experience a ride with horses in nature!
We did not lose the opportunity to ask and learn more about the beautiful world of horses. We admired these beautiful animals and we rode in the woods under the supervision of a trainer! It was a wonderful experience that I look forward to relive as soon as possible.
In general, our day at Papigo was very nice ! We enjoyed the nature and recharged our batteries, we filled our mind with new images, and left feeling much closer to Mother Nature!
