Romancing the Rivers of Greece!

Acherontas river

Acherontas river is in Epirus. It rises in the Souli mountains and empties into the Ionian Sea, after an almost 60 kilometres flow. Acherontas is a very impressive water mass and ancient Greeks believed that the entrance to the Kingdom of the Underworld, Hades, started from it’s sources, because of it’s imposing appearance. Today, the visitor will find a bright green area flown through the river at the sources of Acherontas river, near Parga. It’s a very beautiful place. You can swim, if you are although the water of the river is cold, or do rafting or horse riding. Whatever you prefer, one is for sure: you’ll be fond of Acherontas River sources.

Aggitis springs

They can be found at a distance of  20 kms away from the city of Drama.  The Cave of the river called Aggitis is located nearby. It is a Cave created by river waters where many archaeological findings and a tusk of mammoth have been found. The scenery is beautiful. Visiting the area is a unique experience!

It is therefore worthwhile to enjoy the beautiful sight of its sources …
